Woman’s Club

Members and guests should wear a Halloween hat to the club’s October 19 lunch meeting. Marketing Director Debra Smith will talk about how to identify toxins in one’s home and how to get rid of them. She will explain how to keep the home “green,” healthy and safe. Lunch is $14. Reservations can be made at www.canyonlakewomansclub.com.

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club is a philanthropic organization that meets on the third Wednesday of the month at the Lodge. Vendor hour is from 9 to 10 a.m.; the meeting starts at 10 a.m. There is a speaker every month followed by lunch. For membership enquiries, contact Sue Collins at suecollinsrealtor@gmail.com.

Canyon Lake Association of Men

The monthly CLAMS dinner meeting will be held October 19 at 6 p.m. in the Activities Building at East Port Park. Steve and Maryann Spaeth will be cooking chili for members’ enjoyment. According to spokesperson Randy Schutz, the room does not have a bar, so all are invited to bring their own drinks.

“We are trying this out as an alternative to our regular venue and would like your feedback,” says Randy. “Cocktails are at 6 and dinner at 6:30. All CLAMS members are invited to come, as well as interested new members!”

Family Matters Club

Residents are invited to the Family Matters Club’s October 14 visit to Kenny’s Farm to pick out their own pumpkins, which are sold by the pound. Bring lunch to eat together at the tables. The event begins at 10 a.m.

“Quarter Mania” will be held on November 5, at 11 a.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. A paddle is required to attend this event. VIP paddles cost $35, which includes entry to win every item in the auction. General Admission paddles cost $15. Additional paddles cost $5 each. A goodie bag is included with purchase. Bible Club

Canyon Lake Bible Club meets in the Pool View Room at the Lodge the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. led by Pastor Thor Ramsey of Center Church. Meetings are open to the community (www.centerchurch.life). For more information, contact Steve Martin at 951-757-6146.

CLCT Election

The annual election of the Canyon Lake Community Theatre and Performing Arts Association for 2017 will be held Thursday, November 3, at 7 p.m. in the Magnolia Room, downstairs at the Country Club. Travel Club

Travel Club functions are open to Canyon Lakers who would like to attend even though they aren’t a member of the club. They are invited to call the person in charge of the event and arrangements can be made to attend and get acquainted with the club.

Reservations are being taken for the Newport Boat Parade on December 18. The Harborside Restaurant will provide dinner prior to boarding the boat for a 90-minute cruise viewing decorated homes and boats. Leave the Lodge at 2:30 p.m.; return at 9:30. Only 23 spaces are available; October 25 is the deadline for reservations. Visit the website for menu selection and to make a reservation, or call Nyla Finch at 951-757-6760. Members are $93; guests are $98.

The Parade of Roses trip is on January 2 and includes bus and reserved seating for viewing. The bus will leave the Lodge at 4:30 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m., stopping at a food court on the way home. Only a few seats are left; deadline is November 10. Members are $125; guests are $130. A multi-day trip, “Southern Charm,” with Collette Tours, is scheduled for April 9-14, 2017.  After arriving by plane and exploring Charleston, South Carolina, guests will travel to Savannah, Georgia, Jekyll Island, St. Simons Island, Jacksonville and St Augustine, Florida. Kids Club

The Kids Club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge. Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Art Association

Membership in the Canyon Lake Art Association (CLAA)  is open to individuals 18 years of age and older, but all are welcome to attend and bring their art to share. Art Association

Tennis Club

Pickleball Club

All are invited to come out for the Pickleball Club’s social play days at the Tennis Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 8 to 10 a.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. On Tuesday and Thursday, one court is reserved for beginners and clinics from 8 to 10 a.m.

CLAWS

All Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club. The cost is $10 per player. Participants are asked to bring canned and packaged food for the community cupboard. Game begins at 3 p.m.; please arrive 15 mins early, pick up game card and sign in. Car Club

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening. Yacht Club

Meetings of the Yacht Club are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Lodge. Boat ownership is not a criterion for membership. Members enjoy fun events throughout the year, including the Moonlight Cruise, Progressive Dinner, Lake Clean-Up and more. Roadrunners

Roadrunners RV Club dinner meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. Twirlers Square Dance Club

The Twirlers square dance club meets Wednesdays at the Lodge starting at 6:15 p.m. Experienced dancers are encouraged to come to the plus level workshop from 6:15 to 7, then stay to help the new class members learn to square dance.

The Twirlers hold a regular square dance the second Sunday of each month, with advanced round dancing starting at 1:30 p.m., regular round dancing at 2 and squares at 2:30. For more information, contact Bill or Jackie Brown at 951-694-3650 or Rosalie Nusser at 951-244-0672.

Water Ski Club

The Ski Club is comprised of water skiers of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced. The club hosts several ski competitions and community events, including Breakfast with Santa, Polar Bear Day, Learn to Ski Days and the Fiesta Day Ski Show.

The Canyon Lake Ski Club began in 1970 and is the largest 3-event USA Water Ski sanctioned club in the United States. For membership and general information, visit www.canyonlakeskiclub.com.

Canyon Lake Association of Men

In addition to monthly get-togethers, CLAMS does philanthropic work in Canyon Lake. The organization has been in existence for the men of the Canyon Lake community for the past 43 years. If interested in joining the group, contact Bud Hanner at 951-244-6315.

Mexican Train Players

The Mexican Train Players Club meets every Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the Senior Center. Beginners are welcome. For more information, call Marlys Shilling at 951-244-4241.

Pinochle Club

Attention Pinochle players! The Pinochle Club meets every Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Senior Center. There are munchies between games. New players as well as old-timers are welcomed to come play and win prizes. For more information, call Marlys Shilling at 951-244-4241.

Family Matters Club

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. Monthly meetings are held the first day of the month, unless otherwise noted, and revolve around a fun theme with speakers, games, prize drawings, crafts, snack and social time. Locations vary.
