Canyon Lake Scouts stay busy learning, volunteering

The Webelos of Cub Scout Pack 346 have been busy working on adventures towards their official Webelos rank. A boy age 10 or in the 4th grade is eligible for Webelos in Scouting.

Like all Cub Scouts, a Webelo must first earn his Bobcat rank, then go on to Wolf. The rank of Weblelos is earned by completing several adventures including Cast Iron Chef, Duty to God and You, Webelos Walkabout, First Responder and more.

On September 11, Pack 346 Webelos working on their First Responder requirements learned how to handle some of the various first-aid situations they might come across at home, or while hiking or camping. In addition to learning these important first-aid skills, the boys put together their own home first-aid kits and developed emergency escape route plans for their homes. At the end of the meeting, the Scouts got the chance to meet an AMR ambulance crew and see an ambulance up close.

Cub Scouts Gavin Dalton, Matt Thomas and Luke Thomas from Pack 346, and Boy Scouts Blake Dalton and Hayden Dalton from Troop 2011 assisted at the annual Lions Club Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, September 18, raising over $150 for the Lions Club White Cane fundraiser.

The money will be used for youth vision screenings and help with grants towards the purchase of equipment to help visually impaired youth and adults. Scouts from Pack 346 volunteer their help the Lions Club each year on the White Cane program.

Pack 346 is for boys in grades 1 through 5 in Canyon Lake, Canyon Hills and Tuscany Hills. New Scouts are welcomed throughout the year. For more information contact socalpack346@gmail.com or call 951-363-3346
