Letter: Community Losses

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

This is a sad time when we have lost two valuable assets from our community. I admired Chris Mitchell, POA General Manager, a lot. When I was on the City Council, any time I had business with Chris, he was readily available and most willing to work cooperatively with the City. He and I never had a problem we couldn’t resolve to everyone’s satisfaction. I’ll miss Chris, and I congratulate him on his new position and wish him well. I know he’ll be successful.

The other person is our recent Friday Flyer Editor, Sharon Rice. She had the heartbeat of the community and portrayed it as the wonderful people they are. She always tried to be fair with difficult issues. Sharon was easy to talk to and gave good advice. She listened well. I’ll miss her too. Donna (Ritchie), as you said, you have big shoes to fill. I know you are up to it. My best wishes for your success.

Finally, I want to add one more person whom some of you may not know. It’s Trudi Wicke, who passed away last week. Trudi was an RN (Registered Nurse) and together with Dorothy Cable, RN (who has also passed away), were very supportive and helpful to me in managing the emergency care center for the Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee. They volunteered many hours. I miss both of them.
