’No Regrets’ will be topic of Caregivers Connection

You’ve just put Mom in a nursing home but you can’t sleep at night wondering if you’ve done the right thing.

Your husband becomes agitated every time you leave him with a caregiver so you can go out to lunch and a movie with a friend. Are you being selfish?

Your father is calm and submissive while taking his new medicine, but he’s lost his spark. Are you doing the right thing?

So often caregivers second-guess themselves as they are overwhelmed by the responsibility of caring for loved ones and accepting the responsibility that accompanies that role.

At the September meeting of Caregivers Connection, Jo Ann Wickerath will discuss “No Regrets,” reminding caregivers that it is God who is in control – an important concept for those who feel the guilt that often comes with their decision-making as caregivers.

The meeting will be held on September 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Canyon Lake Community Church.

Men and women who provide care for their husbands, wives or parents for illnesses such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, heart issues or Parkinson’s are invited to attend Caregivers Connection, a support group that meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in room 6 in the gym of Canyon Lake Community Church from 10 a.m. to noon.

For more information about this support group, contact facilitator Jo Ann Wickerath at 679-7736 or assistant facilitator Bev Haney at 244-8711.
