Twelve people attended the Learn-to-Ski Day clinic held on Wednesday, August 3 in the North Ski Area.
According to spokesperson Tom Nathan, the event is referred to as a “Basic Skills” clinic, which includes:
Hand signals to the boat
How to insert feet in bindings and adjusting
How to properly hold the handle
Body position for starting
Body position while skiing
Two-ski and one-ski starting, balance, steering and wake crossing.
The Ski Club members who helped as instructors were Mike and Janelle Kerber, Tom Nathan, Steve Volz, Debbie Sacks and Al Van Beenen. Other Ski Club members who helped keep the day moving along smoothly were local realtors Terry Pierce and Jude Donahue.
Tom says, “It was a day of success for everyone as some experienced water skiing for the very first time, while others advanced their skills by skiing on a single slalom ski instead of two skis.”
