Family Matters will host upcoming events

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club has a few events planned for the months of July and August. The Club will be hosting a FREE spaghetti dinner for Canyon Lake seniors on Sunday, July 31. Doors to the Senior Center open at 5 p.m. with dinner at 5:30. Afterwards there will be a free  drawing.

On Monday, August 1, the club hold its monthly meeting, an “Ice Cream Social Meet and Mingle,” in the East Port Activities Building from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be signups for anyone interested in being on committees for upcoming activities as well as signups for those interested in running for the Family Matters board in November.

On Saturday, August 27, the Family Matters Club will host the children’s area of the Mermaid Festival at Indian Beach.

The Family Matters Quarter Mania fundraising event was held on June 18.  “We had an amazing turnout and everyone had a blast,” says Club founder Shawns Bowen.

The Club thanks all the vendors who supported the event: Younique, Perfectly Posh, The Nifty Necklace, It Works, DoTerra, Thirty-One, Tupperware, Tammy’s Treasures and Scentsy. They also thank donors: Buffalo Wild Wings, The Wine Trailer, Disneyland, Wyland Studios and local shops like Sugar Dollz and Wolfee Donuts, without whom they would not be able to hold such great fundraisers. Family Matters gives a super shoutout to Dave McCrory for emceeing the event!

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. Monthly meetings are held the first day of the month, unless otherwise noted, and revolve around a fun theme with speakers, games, prize drawings, crafts, snack and social time. Locations vary. The club puts on several events throughout the year to benefit the community and to raise funds for future events and provide philanthropic donations. For more information, visit the Family Matters Facebook page or call 714-394-4885.
