Summer reading is in full swing at the Library

Summer reading is in full swing at the Canyon Lake Library. On Monday, June 27, children began receiving their earned prizes for reading. The program has four goals, after which readers can earn extra reading prize drawing tickets. This year’s grand prize is a package of tickets for Rock Fitness Climbing gym in Murrieta.

Forty-four people showed up for “Game Day” on June 27. Children enjoyed popcorn and juice while playing games.  A second game day will be held Monday, July 11. Games included Wii, Twister, board games and other activities for a variety of ages. As of that date, more than 200 people had signed up for the “Read for the Win” Summer Reading Program.

The Library will be closed July 4.

On Wednesday, July 6, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., attendees will explore earth-friendly crafts.  Each Wednesday – July 6, 13 and 20, there will be different earth-friendly crafts made from items normally discarded. All supplies are provided and the programs is free.

The Canyon Lake Knitters will meet at 11 a.m. on July 6.  Younger knitters or learners are welcome during the school break.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the City Hall building. It’s open Mondays, 10 to 7, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 3. It’s closed Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Canyon Lake Library is a member of the Riverside County Library System (www.rivlib.net) honoring cards and returns from other affiliated libraries.
