Court crowned amidst ‘Denim and Diamonds’

“Denim and Diamonds” was the rollicking theme for the Miss Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant last Saturday, May 21, at the Lodge. The program consisted of interviews by judges and a “fun fashion” and evening gown competition. One of the highlights of the evening was the crowning of Ms. Elegant Lady Margie Zingg.

The Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant is program that is designed to mentor young women and promote community service. With that in mind, co-directors CoCo Morrison and Janelle Basham asked Margie last month if she would serve as Ms. Elegant Lady 2016.

Janelle says, “Margie has lived in Canyon Lake for over 35 years. She is known and loved by so many in our community. This lovely, smiling woman lights up a room when she walks in. She has a zest for life – and her personality and love for life are simply contagious.”

In addition to Margie, 16 young ladies vied for the positions of Wee MIss/Tiny Miss (ages 3-5); Little Miss (ages 7-8); Young Miss (ages 9-10); Preteen Miss (ages 11-12); Junior Miss (ages 13-14); Teen Miss (15-17) and Miss Canyon Lake (17-24).

Winning the crown as 2016 Miss Canyon Lake was Hannah Graham. The other members of the Royal Court are as follows: Wee Miss Kaitlyn Smith, Tiny Miss Clarice Walsh, Little Miss Ryann Boshard, Young Miss Amy Bassett, Preteen Miss Mackenna Keith, Junior Miss Valerie Reed and Teen Miss Mary Ellen Reed.

CoCo says, “Janelle and I would like to thank all of our supporters, family and friends for all of their help. The pageant was a great success, and we have wonderful group of girls this year. The Royal Court is excited about the year ahead and we are looking forward to the great memories we will share with them.

Look for the Royal Court to be riding in the Fiesta Day Parade tomorrow and helping with upcoming community events.
