Play in Ray Chenette Tourney tomorrow

The Ray Chenette Memorial Golf Tournament will be held tomorrow May 14, at the Canyon Lake Country Club. It will be a Las Vegas Scramble. Check-in begins at 10 a.m., with shotgun start at noon. Chamber of Commerce Director Alison Burrafato says golfers who have not yet registered can still sign up Saturday morning.

This tournament is an important fundraiser for the Chamber of Commerce’s efforts to support Junior Golf and the community throughout the year.

Lions Charity Golf Tournament

The Canyon Lake Lions Club is sponsoring its 26th annual Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 19, at the Canyon Lake Golf Course. Deadline for entry was May 12. To see if spots are still available, contact Phil Coughlin at 951-805-0223 or Golf Pro Pat Kemball at 951-246-1782. The cost is $60 to enter (includes banquet and awards). Green Fee is $29 and Cart Fee is $15. Entry forms are available in the Canyon Lake Pro Shop.

There are two options. Players may sign up for a four-person scramble open to all players with or without a handicap. They may pick their own foursome or players will be assigned to a foursome.

The alternate game is a Pro-Am event open to all players with a handicap. Three amateurs will be paired with two Pros for a team in a two-best ball format: one best ball from the amateurs and one best ball from the pros.

For a $5 donation, anyone landing in the small circle on Hole 15 in one shot will receive $50, or $25 for landing in the larger circle. There also will be a putting contest, a longest drive between two lines on Hole 14 for both men and women, and, for a $2 donation, an opportunity to get a prize for being closest to the pin on Holes 2, 8, 11 and 17.

This annual charity event has raised over $200,000 over the past 25 years for Lions charities and Canyon Lake organizations.
