Junior anglers advance to state tourney

A78-PIC-Bassmasters-Jr-tourney-Perkins-by-Sal-GervasiThe Canyon Lake Bassmasters held their annual Jr. Bassmasters Tournament on Sunday, May 8. The top four are moving on to the State Championship at Lake Skinner on May 29. The winner of that event will move on to the National Championship on Lake Guntersville, Alabama August 4 to 6, where they will compete for more then $10,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Winning this year’s Jr. Bassmasters Tournament was Casey Perkins, pictured, with a total weight of 7.36 pounds, including with 3.30-pound “Big Fish.” Rounding out the top four were Jake Nelson in 2nd, Bryan Murphy in 3rd and Nick Van Dyke in 4th.

The Bassmasters Club is active in many community events and hosts the annual Kids Fishing Derby each August.
