The Canyon Lake Library will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Dia de Los Ninos, Dia de Los Libros (Day of the Child, Day of the Books) with dancing and crafts. The celebration will start Monday, April 25, with a “Toddler Dance Party” at 11 a.m. The party is a partnership with the Family Matters Club and the Library. This is the first event where the two organizations have joined efforts.

Library Manager Sandra Brautigam says she looks forward to working with the club and hopes they will find more opportunities to work together.

Later the same day, at 4 p.m., the Library will host a family program that includes Japanese fans craft, sugar cookie sombreros, candy sushi, and an Italian-themed stained glass rainbow craft. At 5 p.m., enjoy a performance by Ballet Folklorico. The event will end at 6 p.m. but not the celebration.

In the Kid’s Cove, the Library’s children’s room, is a jar of candy and toys donated by the Friends of the Canyon Lake Library. During the month of April, children are able to enter a ticket every day they visit. The drawing will be held on April 30, the final day of “Day of the Child” celebrations.

Today, April 22, at 11:30 a.m., Miss Ginny’s Preschool Craft and Story Time will celebrate Earth Day with music, stories and a craft.

Monday’s usual activities – Toddler Story Time and the April Family Movie – have moved aside for the Day of the Child activities. They will be back on their regular schedules in May.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the City Hall building. It’s open Mondays, 10 to 7, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 3. It’s closed Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Canyon Lake Library is a member of the Riverside County Library System (www.rivlib.net) honoring cards and returns from other affiliated libraries.
