Lioness Club gets ready to deliver pull-tabs

Once again Canyon Lake residents are invited to donate their collection of pull-tabs for a fundraising project to benefit Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House. Aluminum pull-tabs can be popped off of soda, beer, soup and other food cans.

Each year, Lioness members welcome donations of pull-tabs from residents and combine them with their own to take to Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House. Many clubs, businesses and organizations throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties deliver the pull-tabs they have collected. The tabs are then weighed and sold, with the proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House.

They will be delivered on Friday, May 6. Anyone wanting to donate may give pulltabs to any member of the Lioness Club or deliver them to Joanna Spiller at 23651 Cruise Circle Dr. by May 4.

The mission of the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House (LLRMH) is to provide a home away from home to families while their children receive medical treatment. Most of the children are in critical condition, making it very important that the family is nearby while their child receives treatment.

The House opened September 11, 1996 and has served more than 18,000 families from 16 countries. The LLRMH supports more than 24 families each night. A fee of $10 per night is charged; however, no family is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Funds to operate the House come from contributions through individual gifts, special events, corporate donations and foundation grants.
