New Gate Access Options

Upon completion of the Main Gate project, there will be three entrance lanes into the community and two new convenient options for members to access the community.

The left lane will be for guests and members who do not have a valid POA proximity card (see below). The center lane will be for returning guests with a valid guest pass, members with a valid POA proximity card, and members with a valid vehicle decal. The right lane will be designated for members who have purchased a RFID vehicle transponder.

New Option 1 –  POA Proximity Card

In 2015, the Association started issuing POA proximity cards that will be compatible with the new card readers planned for the Main Gate center lane and pedestrian sidewalk access gate. To access the community via the card reader, members simply touch the POA proximity card to the reader and the gate arm will automatically open.

To obtain a new POA proximity card, visit the Member Services office and be camera ready. Members will be required to complete a use agreement form and take a picture. The card will be printed and issued immediately. For those who have lost or misplaced their previously issued proximity card, a replacement can be purchased for $35.

New Option 2 – RFID Vehicle Transponder

The far right lane at the Main Gate will be equipped with RFID (radio frequency identification) technology to quickly grant member access. This technology is designed to automatically open the gate when a vehicle equipped with an Association issued RFID transponder drives towards the gate. This far right lane will not be manned and will only allow entrance to those who have a valid RFID transponder.

Members who wish to purchase a RFID sticker will need to bring the vehicle to the Member Service office and the following items:

  • Current vehicle registration (must be registered to a community member)
  • Photo identification (POA card or driver’s license)
  • Payment of $20 per transponder (no cash)

Once purchased, a Member Services Associate will install the transponder on the vehicle. Members who do not bring the vehicle to the office cannot be issued a transponder. The RFID transponder does not have to be replaced on an annual basis; however, members must provide annual registration to reactivate the transponder.

Happy Camp Special

The Happy Camp Campground is offering a “Spring Break Special.” Campers can stay four days for the price of three days, or seven days for the price of five days. The special ends May 1. Daily rates are $40 for waterfront (with full hookups), $35 for off-water (with full hookups) and $30 for off-water (electric and water only). Cash and credit are the only forms of payment accepted. For more information, call Dwight Cogdill at 951-244-6841, ext. 650 or 951-246-1765.

East Coast Swing Workshop

A new two-hour beginning East Coast Swing dance workshop will be offered for couples and singles on Sunday, April 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. (athletic shoes are recommended). Judi Ruth Meredith, a veteran dance instructor, will be teaching the class, assisted by her husband, Van Meredith. The workshop is $5 per person or $10 per couple. Sign up at POA Member Services or the pool office before the class takes place; signups will not be taken by the instructor the day of the workshop. For more information, contact instructor Judi Meredith at dancerjudi@yahoo.com.
