Katlyn Edwards is March Student of the Month

Katlyn Edwards, a Canyon Lake resident and senior at Temescal Canyon High School, was one of several students chosen as March Student of the Month for the Lake Elsinore Unified School District. (She is seated at right in the photo.) Katlyn has been accepted at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, in Indiana, where she plans to study Engineering and continue to play volleyball this fall. Career aspirations are to become a civil engineer.

According to LEUSD spokesperson Mark Dennis, Katlyn has been described as “the daughter of TCHS” because she embodies Titan Pride and serves as a role model for other students. Through her ASB leadership, Katlyn was instrumental in organizing and building TCHS’s “Friday Night Lights” tradition, in pursuit of her mission to get more students involved in school spirit.

School activities also include varsity volleyball and team captain, academics and ASB leadership. Mentor teacher Robert Parks says, “If we could clone our students, I’d start with Katlyn!”

Canyon Lakers also recognize Katlyn as the honoree for the Chamber of Commerce Youth of the Year Award.

Others honored as March Students of the Month were Joseline Santizo (EHS), Lay Heng Teng (LHS), Samantha Mireles (OHS), Elvin Schlanger (EHS), Alex Pena (LHS) and Troy Hussain (TCHS).
