Tennis Club

The Tennis Club’s next tournament is the St. Patrick’s Day Team Mixer tomorrow, March 12, at 8 a.m. Players are encouraged to wear green.

The next tournament is the Spring Doubles Mixer on April 9, at 8 a.m. To sign up, contact Peggy Basubas at 951-719-7950 or ped817@msn.com no later than April 6.

The club won’t be hosting a tournament in May in lieu of the annual Shadow Mountain Resort tennis club weekend in Palm Desert May 13 to 15.

The Tennis Club invites residents to come out for Social Play on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. It is open to all levels of players and is a way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. For more information, contact Dave Harrigan at 951-746-3460 or davenjean@canyontennis.net.

Jr. Women’s Club

The JWC is hosting its annual Charity Golf Tournament tomorrow, March 12. The cost to play golf and attend the dinner following the tournament is $100 per player. For details, contact Kasey Castillo at KAD29@aol.com or Kristin Grebe at misse006@aol.com.

Canyon Lake Association of Men

The March monthly dinner will be held at the Country Club on Wednesday, March 16, with cocktails at 5:30 and dinner at 6. The dinner will be in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, with corned beef and cabbage. All members and guests are invited to attend.

The Canyon Lake Association of Men (CLAMS) is looking for new members. It is open to all men in Canyon Lake. The group currently has 111 members and wants more. One of the coming attractions is the CLAMS Golf Tournament at the Golf Course on Saturday, April 2. Entry forms are available at the Golf Pro Shop. Everyone is welcome, men, women and guests. For more information, call Randy Schutz at 951-314-9716.

In addition to monthly get-togethers, CLAMS does philanthropic work in Canyon Lake. The organization has been in existence for the men of the Canyon Lake community for the past 43 years. If interested in joining the group, contact Bud Hanner at 951-244-6315.

Woman’s Club

The next Woman’s Club luncheon meeting is on March 16, at 10 a.m. at the Lodge. Ladies are invited to come for a social hour and shopping at vendor displays, beginning at 9 a.m.

The topic of this meeting is Travel Tips. Loreene Orgoralini, a luxury cruise specialist, will explain the benefits of a travel advisor and the differences between river cruise companies. KT Bowers, retired police officer and world traveler, will provide tips on how to travel safely as a single woman. “Get your Leprechaun On” to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

The lunch menu includes beef lasagna, green salad, garlic bread, beverage station and apple cobbler. Chicken salad or vegetarian options are available. The annual Woman’s Club Fashion Show will be on Friday, April 29, at the Lodge. This year’s theme is “At the Movies.”

Pre-parties leading up to the Fashion Show are held in members’ homes. The $10 ticket includes food, a drink and a grand prize ticket (for the Fashion Show drawing) with a chance to win $2,500 in cash prizes.

  • Friday, April 22, 6 p.m. – “South Pacific” (with an appearance by the Crazy Coconuts) at the home of Lyne Hall (951-244-2101). Gentlemen welcome.

Travel Club

Travel Club functions are open to Canyon Lakers who would like to attend even though they aren’t a member of the club. They are invited to call the person in charge of the event and arrangements can be made to attend and get acquainted with the club.

A visit to the Petersen Auto Museum with its $90 million top-to-bottom renovation is planned for May 19. Those who like cars won’t want to miss this trip. Cost for members is $97; for guests is $102. A visit to the Candlelight Dinner Theater in Claremont is scheduled for September 25. La Cage Aux Folles will be presented along with dinner.

Pinochle Club

New members are welcome to join the Pinochle Club, which plays every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. For more information, call Marlys Shilling at 951-244-4241.

CLAWS

All Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club. The cost is $10 per player. Participants are asked to bring canned and packaged food for the community cupboard. Game begins at 3 p.m.,; arrive 15 mins early to pick up game card and sign in. Car Club

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening. Yacht Club

Meetings of the Yacht Club are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Lodge. Boat ownership is not a criterion for membership. Members enjoy fun events throughout the year, including the Moonlight Cruise, Progressive Dinner, Lake Clean-Up and more. Bible Club

The Canyon Lake Bible Club meets on Thursdays, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel at Canyon Lake Community Church. Bible facilitator Richard Cunha is leading the group from the book, “The Fifth Gospel: Christ in Isaiah.”

Family Matters Club

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. Monthly meetings are held the first day of the month, unless otherwise noted, and revolve around a fun theme with speakers, games, prize drawings, crafts, snack and social time. Locations vary. Roadrunners

Roadrunners RV Club dinner meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. Twirlers Square Dance Club

The Twirlers square dance club meets Wednesdays at the Lodge starting at 6:15 p.m. Experienced dancers are encouraged to come to the plus level workshop from 6:15 to 7, then stay to help the new class members learn to square dance.

The Twirlers hold a regular square dance the second Sunday of each month, with advanced round dancing starting at 1:30 p.m., regular round dancing at 2 and squares at 2:30. For more information, contact Bill or Jackie Brown at 951-694-3650 or Rosalie Nusser at 951-244-0672.

Kids Club

During the school year, Kids Club meetings are held every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge. Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Ski Club

Water Ski Club

The Ski Club is comprised of water skiers of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced. The club hosts several ski competitions and community events, including Breakfast with Santa, Polar Bear Day, Learn to Ski Days and the Fiesta Day Ski Show.

The Canyon Lake Ski Club began in 1970 and is the largest 3-event USA Water Ski sanctioned club in the United States. For membership and general information, visit www.canyonlakeskiclub.com.

ShowCal Skiers

ShowCal Skier is a sanctioned club and California’s first and only water-ski show team. The club welcomes all ages 6 and older, since there is a place for everyone, even those not interested in performing. Skills training is taught for all aspects of the ski show, including audio/visual, announcing/hosting, drivers/power team, safety coordinators and equipment.

Ski disciplines include two skis, slalom, barefoot, trick, shoe ski, swivel, ballet, jump, doubles, trios, adagio, human pyramids, ATB, knee board, disc, wake board, wake skate, foil, free-style and hot dogging. Members incorporate all types of performance artistry in their water-ski shows.

Bosom Buddies

The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey.
