City Manager Ariel Hall is leaving City Hall

As the Interim City Manager/City Clerk contract comes to an end, Ariel Hall recently informed the City Council that her family is moving out of state and she won’t be asking for a renewal of the contract. At the January 13 Special City Council Meeting, the City Council began exploring its options to fill the positions.

The City of Canyon Lake has contracted with Ariel Hall for Interim City Manager and City Clerk services since early 2015. Ariel began working for the City in May 2014 as City Clerk and Administrative Services Manager. She was contracted for Interim City Manager and City Clerk services in April 2015 when former City Manager Keith Breskin left the office.

For the past year, she has worked with the City Council to successfully settle the legal dispute over Fire Services with Riverside County; contracted with a new firm to handle building, planning, engineering and public works; established the ability to accept credit cards at City Hall; revived the City’s Facebook page, website, and PEG channel; and established the Community Development Block Grant mobile home repair program. Staff says the City has made great strides towards stability during her time as Interim City Manager.

“I have really enjoyed working as the Interim City Manager for Canyon Lake this past year,” Ariel says, “it’s provided me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience. The decision to not ask the City Council to renew my contract was difficult, but my family has decided to move out of state, which would make it impossible for me to continue to serve the City Council in Canyon Lake.”

Mayor Tim Brown says, “It has been a delight working with Ariel Hall this past year. Her dedication, honesty and know-how have been extremely valuable to Canyon Lake. I tried to convince her that you can’t beat the weather in Southern California but to no avail. She has been a great city manager and will be sorely missed. On behalf of the Council and everyone she has worked with during the past year, we wish nothing but the best for her.”
