Jack and Alice Gray celebrate 60 years of marriage

Jack and Alice Gray celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family members who met them at the Lawrence Welk Resort for two days of family togetherness and memories.

The Grays were married December 23, 1955 at the San Bernardino Community Bible Church. They are blessed with four children: Jack Gray Jr. and his wife Wanda, who live and work in Canyon Lake; Rebecca Watson and her husband Jack, who live in San Bernardino; Phil Gray and his wife Gabi, who live in Orange; and Angela Atwood and her husband Michael, who live in Riverside. The Grays have eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Before his retirement, Jack was a medical administrator/CEO in Orange County for 38 years. He now is active at Canyon Lake Community Church, where he is passionate about his golf and the Men’s Golf Fellowship Group, which he organized. He also enjoys following politics and sports and spending time with family and friends.

Jack was a clerk/typist stationed in Munich, Germany during the Korean conflict. It was there he met his future wife, Alice, on a street car going to a downtown Munich Bible Study put on by GI’s who did not care for the U.S. Army chaplain. Jack soon was leading the singing and Alice played the piano for the group.

Jack and Alice married shortly after they returned to the states. Jack graduated from college and began the career which he followed for the rest of his working life. After the four children were born, Alice kept a promise made to her father, going to college and becoming a music teacher, a career lasting 28 years.

After retiring, the couple moved to Canyon Lake and, like Jack, Alice became very active at Canyon Lake Community Church. Her many interests include reading, cooking,
hosting weekly Bible Studies and spending quality time with family and friends. Dearest to her heart, however, is the beloved Priscilla Circle at the church, where she and her “sisters” in the circle have as their mission, P.L.A.N. (People Living Alone Now).
