Visit five homes in Holiday Home Tour

Canyon Lakers who look forward to seeing beautifully decorated homes each year at the holidays will want to mark their calendars for the Woman’s Club Holiday Home Tour on Sunday, December 6.

The theme of this year’s tour is “There’s No Place Like Home…For the Holidays.” Tickets are $15 and are 100 percent tax-deductible. They can be purchased at the POA Office, Pack Wrap and Post, Coldwell Banker and Just 4 Gifts in the Towne Center.

On the day of the tour, ticket-holders can stop by the Lodge to pick up their tour map, have a cup of coffee and sample baked goods. The Lodge bar opens at 9 a.m.; the home tour starts at 10. Also at the Lodge, vendors will be selling a festive array of goods and there will be an opportunity drawing for decorated trees and wreaths.

This week’s featured home is at 29506 Big Range Rd. The theme, “California Christmas Winterland,” begins the moment one pulls up in front of this 3,000 sq. ft. two-bedroom, four-bath home with its palm-lined circular driveway.

Through leaded glass doors, one enters the great room, an all-purpose living area that’s perfect for the owners’ massive Christmas collection. Natural wood beams accent the vaulted ceiling and enhance the spaciousness of the room, decorated in a cool gray color palette.

The custom tops of the kitchen counters, breakfast bar, breakfast nook table, formal dining room table and coffee tables are made from the same natural gray granite. The floor-to-ceiling fireplace next to the huge entertainment center draws family together to enjoy a winter evening.

The stairs to the lower level are steep but worth the trip. Daughter Sara Price, professional Motocross racer, will provide a tour of her hundreds of awards and accomplishments such as the Rallye Aicha des Gazelles, a nine-day off-road rally through Southern Morocco.

Two beautifully decorated Christmas trees and lots of snow throughout the home provide a backdrop for the wide array of Anna Lee dolls and mechanical and soft-stuffed Christmas characters. Thousands of twinkle lights make the entire home sparkle. The Thomas Kinkade lifelike moving creatures and toy trains are a treat to see. Every corner is decorated and ready for the family festivities.

Be sure to check out the snowman-themed guest bathroom. The shower is stacked high with gifts. Out the glass doors to the deck, the Christmas celebration continues with a peaceful view of Little Fish Cove. With the beautiful built-in barbecue, this large deck provides the perfect place for family and friends to enjoy a warm California Christmas afternoon.
