Car Club and 9ers Golf Club also donate to HOPE

Canyon Lake Car Club participated in the frozen turkey

On November 19, the Canyon Lake Car Club participated in the frozen turkey and food drive for HOPE (Helping our People in Elsinore) by donating nine complete turkey dinners, including frozen turkeys, stuffing mix, sweet potatoes, brown sugar, green beans, mushroom soup, crispy onions, black olives, hot chocolate, marshmallows, cupcake mix, icing and candy canes.

The Canyon Lake Car Club is a fraternal organization with approximately 170 members formed for civic and charitable purposes – along with a huge passion for classic cars, hot rods and trucks.

The Car Club participates in many community philanthropic events, including providing convertibles for the Fiesta Day Parade dignitaries, the Canyon Lake Veterans Committee, Little League, Marine Patrol, Emergency Preparedness Committee and many more. The club also presents the Canyon Lake Classic Car Show every October, offers a scholarship to Lake Elsinore high school qualifying students, and financial support to other Canyon Lake clubs and entities.

Membership consists of both Canyon Lake residents and non-residents who are enthusiastic about classic automobiles. New members are always welcome.

To join, members must be at least 18 years of age and own one or more pre-1973 vehicle(s).

The Canyon Lake 9ers Golf Club does not just get birdies; it also give “birdies.”

Spokesperson Kathy Sanchez says members of the golf club generously donated turkeys, along with all the fixings, to the HOPE Turkey and Food Drive last week so they can be distributed to needy Canyon Lake families to enjoy a tasty Thanksgiving dinner.

The 9ers would like to wish the community a very happy Thanksgiving.

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. The club has open membership to anyone interested in playing golf and making new friends. All skill levels are welcome.

The group meets in the Magnolia Room, downstairs at the Country Club, at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday. For more information, call Linda Kielty at 951-746-2250 or Diana Castillo at 951-970-8931.
