Triathlon Club to hold ‘Long Duathlon’

The Triathlon Club will hold its last club event of the year, the “Long Duathlon,” on Saturday, November 14, starting at 7 a.m. at Indian Beach. It will consist of a 3-mile run, followed by a 12-mile bike ride, ending with another 3-mile run.

Race director Mike La Hood says, “You are welcome to do a short coarse – simply divide all in half. This is a great endurance challenge and a perfect event for those who are not ready for the swim. It’s sure to work you in those transitions. Transition area opens at 6:15, and the race will start at 7.”

The Fitness and Triathlon club held its 4th annual CanyonMan 70.3 triathlon on Saturday, October 24. Triathletes began the race with a 1.2 mile swim in the East Bay, followed by a 56-mile bike ride that included a climb near the end of the ride on what the triathletes call “Goetz Hill.”

It concluded with a hilly one-loop half marathon (13.1 miles) on Canyon Lake’s private streets. Tech support was available on site for last-minute bike issues, and standup paddle boarders and kayakers were on the lake in support of the swimmers.
