Tis a weekend for music, memories and mayhem

Costumes make it possible to be someone we’re not, which is why tomorrow’s two very different community events have something in common. First is the Parade of Frights in the Towne Center, starting at 9 a.m. The “mayhem” will be the controlled chaos of kids in costume collecting candy from businesses.

Second is Canyon Lake Community Theatre’s “Musical Memories,” which begins at 7:30 at Indian Beach.

To honor the group’s benefactors and to take the community down memory lane, CLCT presents this unique show. On a large theater-size screen, a special video has been produced that includes clips of most shows the group has produced over the last 22 years, including “Wizard of Oz,” “Sound of Music,” “Peter Pan,” “Oklahoma,” “Oliver,” “Music Man,” “South Pacific,” “Into the Woods,” “Hello Dolly,” “My Fair Lady,” “Annie,” “Guys and Dolls” to name just a few.

While the video is playing, a live performer will sing music from that show. The cast features cast members from years gone by along with current performers.

At the end of the show will be a special musical/video tribute to those members of the CLCT family who have passed away. These include Steve Morrison, Ron Myre, Vick Knight, Cathy Zaitz, Ed Strong, Bill Faulds, Murial Roxbury, Jess and Muriel Haxton, Chet Felshaw and Marty Gibson.

Leslie Vecchione says, “This show is sure to touch your heart and make your feet dance!”

Those just wishing to see the show without dinner may purchase show tickets for $12 for general seating, and $15 for preferred seating. A dinner also will be offered for $38, which includes a full meal and the show.  Dinner begins at 6 p.m.; the show begins at 7:30.

Tickets for the how only can be purchased at the door or by calling CoCo Morrison at 951-204-7777.
