Letter: Imagine My Surprise

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

Imagine my surprise when I discovered the full-page political ad in The Friday Flyer promoting a yes vote on recall was paid for by one of the owners of Goetz Hill and a strong vocal advocate for the mining of Goetz Hill, to the detriment of the health of Canyon Lake residents.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the moderator of the recall forum held last Saturday was none other than the past chief promoter of the mining of Goetz Hill, which was recently overwhelmingly rejected by the voters of Canyon Lake.

Imagine my surprise, when an articulate speaker at our September POA meeting rose to question the advisability of voting to recall our current Directors, when the candidates running to replace them do not even live in Canyon Lake full time. The speaker pointed out that most cities require candidates to live full time in the city they are seeking to hold office for very obvious reasons.

Imagine my surprise when I learned that these same non full time resident candidates seeking to replace our current Directors arrived up to 40 minutes late at their own sparsely attended “Candidate Forum.” The spokespersons behind these non full time resident candidates do in fact excel at distortion and negativity.

They fail to recognize the improvements in our community as enunciated by Dorothy Washle in her August 21st Letter to the Editor, and they reflect what entertainer Johnny Lee had to say about people who feel negatively about Canyon Lake.

It is respectfully recommended that members of the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association vote no on the recall.
