Artists invited to be involved in upcoming season

The Canyon Lake Art Association invites local artists to get involved as the club’s busy season gets underway.

At the top of the list is a call-out for artists to participate in the 2015 Studio Tour on Saturday, November 14, at the Senior Center.

This event is open to all visual artists, ceramicists and photographers who will open their own home studios or join other artists at their home studios. Space is limited to six homes and the Senior Center. All works must be original and artists must register by November 1. The entry fee is $10. Artists must be a member of CLAA to participate; the membership fee is $25. For more information, contact Carol Davis at 818-522-9920 or caroldpisces@aol.com.

A good way to learn about this event and get involved with the club is by attending the next meeting on Tuesday, September 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center. The demonstrating artist will be Joseph Oakes.

Membership in CLAA is for individuals 18 years of age and older, but all are welcome to attend. Local business owners interested in sponsorship opportunities are invited to contact Ines Miller at info@loscabosart.com.

In other CLAA news, there will be a Paint and Wine Party on October 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. at La Rebelde Winery in Lake Elsinore. This “Day of the Dead” themed painting fundraiser is hosted by CLAA. Space is limited and the deadline to register is October 12. The $35 cost per person includes a glass of wine, cheese and crackers, and a completed painting to take home. For information or to register, contact Rebecca Esquibel at 951-741-7337 or rebelreb@larebeldewines.com.

In addition to the Studio Tour, artists have other opportunities to display their work. An exhibition of new art goes up every few months at the Senior Center and at Pepe’s Restaurant in the Towne Center. To submit a proposal, see Robin Wayland at the general meeting.

The artwork of Rhonda Strickland is currently on display at Pepe’s Restaurant through September 27. It will be followed by a display of watercolors by Christy Bruce, starting September 29.

Lastly, artists are invited to submit a selfie or portrait photo of one person or one animal and tag the CLAA Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/canyonlakeartassociation to win a professional 11×14 digital giclee by Rhonda Strickland.  Entries are due no later than Friday, November 1.
