Senior hopes to provide a different perspective

The Friday Flyer welcomes new teen columnist, Jasen Williams, a senior home-schooled student who recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout (see the August 21 issue of The Friday Flyer). Jasen joins teen columnist Spencer Massicot, but looks forward to providing another perspective on teen life.

In applying for the position, Jasen made the observation that the current columnist is a freshman, while he is “a senior in the process of applying for college; thus, the articles would have two points of view on different ends of high school.”

He is the son of Jasen and Betty Williams. He has a sister, Truly, age 15, and a brother, George, age 13. He is involved in home-school programs at Calvary Murrieta Christian Academy, Biola University Torrey Academy Program and Revival Christian Academy.

Jasen has grown up in Canyon Lake, participating in such activities as the Jr. Golf Clinic and swimming and water polo classes at the Lodge pool. He was in Cub Scout Pack 346 and continued up through the ranks. He is now in Boy Scout Troop 2157, which meets at Lamb’s Fellowship.

He also enjoys reading, kayaking, hiking/backpacking, philosophy, writing and languages (Spanish, Greek, Hebrew, French and German). His other school interests include varsity soccer, volleyball and cross country at Calvary Murrieta, along with Associated Student Body.

Jasen says he looks forward to writing about “school, college applications/ preparation, interpersonal relationships and the good life.”
