Paddle or pedal through East Bay tomorrow

It’s time to beat the (hopefully) last heatwave of summer! Throw on a swimsuit, take a jump in the lake, then join the paddlers and pedalers who are gathering for the 4th annual Paddle & Pedal Regatta tomorrow, August 29, starting at 10 a.m. at Indian Beach.

Everyone with a paddle board, kayak, canoe or pedal boat is invited to join the non-motorized cruise of the East Bay. A limited number of rental and demo boards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Young children are encouraged to ride along as long as they are wearing life vests. And dogs are welcome as long as they don’t go in the lake or hang out at Indian Beach before or afterward. (There are four parks in Canyon Lake where dogs are allowed on leashes, but Indian Beach isn’t one of them.) Stick around after the cruise for the Fitness and Triathlon Club-sponsored burger barbecue, which will be available to those who donate $5 per person. There also will be a drawing for prizes donated by event sponsors. Participants are encouraged to bring a side dish to share. Barbecue proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
