Car Club takes three awards at Big Bear Car Show

The Canyon Lake Car Club showeda total of 15 vehicles in the Big Bear Car Show at Big Bear Village on August 8 and 9, with three of the cars winning awards.

Mayor’s Choice went to Russ Smith’s 1951 Ford Woodie. Best Graphics went to Pete Delia’s 1934 Ford Coupe. Best Mustang went to Lee and Marti Norris’ 1966 Ford Mustang GT.

Members of the Car Club made a weekend of the show, taking over most of the Vintage Lakeside Resort on Friday and Saturday nights.

On Friday, they took a pontoon tour of the lake; and Friday evening, took over the hotel pavilion to enjoy a cocktail hour with Marti’s “famous margaritas.”

The show and judging took place Saturday; awards were presented at a special ceremony on Sunday.

Spokesperson Lee Norris says the group enjoyed the camaraderie and perfect weather in the mid-70s.
