‘Fiesta Under the Big Top’ a juggling success

Many residents and organizers who attended last Saturday’s Fiesta Day say they have never seen such a huge crowd for the annual event – and that was despite the gloomy cloud cover that kept temperatures just above sweatshirt level most of the day.

The CLPOA Activities Department and Fiesta Day Committee planned so many activities for the circus-themed event, most people had to juggle their schedules to take them all in. First was the parade (see pictures on Page B-2) and then came what was referred to as the “Main Event.”

On the Lodge grounds, the red and white-striped Big Top kept guests enthralled most of the day with a magic show, two circus shows, a reptile show and DJ music/dancing. It was an easy walk across the lawn to a number of food booths fancifully decorated in circus themes.

Inside the Lodge, there were performances by Canyon Lake Community Theatre, JDI Dance Company and the Canyon Lake Choraleers. The Kid Zone had bounce houses, games and even an elephant carnival ride.

At Sunset Beach, there was a Decorated Bicycle Contest and Cardboard Boat Challenge. Rounding out the day’s events on the beach was the one-hour Ski and Wake Board Show.

Throughout the day, guests could enjoy roving circus acts, gyro ride, high striker, face-painting and balloon artists, not to mention dozens of vendor booths.

The pictures here are just a few scenes from this unforgettable day, taken by several different photographers. Photos will be printed over the next couple of weeks in The Friday Flyer, but to really get a good look at all that went on at Fiesta Day, visit www.fridayflyer.com and mikeclaryphotography.com.
