Scouts ‘reach for the stars’ during recent outings

After three rained-out nights since December, Pack 346 finally enjoyed an evening under the stars at East Port Park on March 23. The Riverside Astronomical Society brought out their telescopes and gave the Pack an up-close view of the Moon, Jupiter, and several constellations. Spokesperson Susan Gamble says the Pack would like to thank the City of Canyon Lake and the Property Owners Association staff for the flexibility of moving the event as the group sought out clear skies.

Following this event, the Scouts designed their own bottle rockets to try and “shoot for the stars.” On April 19, the boys met in the Lamb’s Fellowship parking lot and launched their rockets high into the skies above Railroad Canyon Rd. Each design had its own unique flying pattern and brought cheers and excitement to all in attendance.

As the 2014/2015 year comes to a close, the boys look forward to their yearend campout and participating in the Fiesta Day Parade and having a Fiesta Day booth.

The pack will kick off recruitment of new Scouts for the 2015/2016 season on June 7, from 3 to 5 p.m., with a Splash Olympics at Canyon Hills Sports Park. Boys currently in Kindergarten through 3rd grade, who are interested in Scouting, are encouraged to come out and meet Pack 346 and have some splashing fun at the same time. Cub Scout Pack 346 serves Canyon Lake, Canyon Hills and Tuscany Hills and is for boys in grades 1-5.  For more information, contact Lisa Zander at Lisazander@rocketmail.com.
