Bassmasters catch and release 133 lbs of bass

Eleven boats and 18 anglers brought 44 bass to the scales for a total of 133.26 pounds during the Bassmasters’ April 4 tournament. The winning weight belonged to the team of Travis Smith and Chet Ayers with a five-fish limit weighing 21.68 pounds. They also had the Big Fish for the day of 6.88 pounds.

The 2nd place team of Mark White and Rich Tucker had 20.42 pounds, while 3rd place went to Jeff Gage and Jim Wright with five fish weighing 17.32 pounds.

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters have meetings in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. and hold a tournament on the following Saturday. The club is active in many community events and hosts the annual Kids Fishing Derby each August.
