Tuesday Work Group looking for volunteers

This week, 31 Tuesday Work Group members received a lesson in hands-only CPR from certified instructors Larry and Sparrow Greene. Larry and Sparrow are members of the Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee, which offers to provide hands-only CPR classes to all interested clubs.

The 30-minute training session included education on CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), used in the event of heart failure. Members learned how to use proper hand compression techniques on human-like dolls. Research shows that hand compressions, pushing hard and fast, are the most effective life-saving technique.

Additionally, instructors trained the group on Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) which are available in many public places and can be an important tool for saving lives.

Beyond this week’s training, the group has been busy working on the Golf Course, removing the acacia shrubs from the hill behind hole 5. The group hopes to have the shrubs completely removed within the next few weeks so that the area can be replaced with a drought-tolerant landscape in keeping with the Golf Course’s water conservation initiative.

The Tuesday Work Group always welcomes new members. This volunteer work group has more than 50 members who come together each week to enhance the community by taking on projects on the Golf Course and around the community.

From October through June, the group meets every Tuesday, at 7:30 a.m. at the maintenance yard behind the 10th green. Members work for approximately four hours and, depending on the project, may meet an additional day of the week to complete work.

Individuals interested in joining the group should arrive at the Golf Course maintenance yard at 7:30 a.m. First timers get two donuts!
