Church offers activities for people over age 55 The senior adult group from Canyon Lake Community Church is resuming its Wednesday luncheons. Mainstream invites all to join them from noon to 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, September 15 in building C of the church, at 30515 Railroad Canyon Road, Canyon Lake.
The theme of the day will be “Let Us Soar in 2004.” with special speaker, Dick Cooney, pastor of Rolling Hills Covenant Church. The speaker’s message will encourage people to remain active and productive in their senior years.
The luncheon is a potluck, and attendees are asked to bring either a casserole, salad or dessert for eight, plus their own place setting. Sign-ups for this luncheon can be made on Sunday mornings at the Mainstream Booth, at the church Welcome Center, or contact Gil or Dolores Bothwell, at 244-2461.
A second invitation is extended by the Mainstreams to Tour the Walt Disney Concert Hall, plus enjoy a concert and luncheon at the contemporary, million-dollar cathedral Our Lady of the Angels.
Mark calendars for Wednesday, September 29, at 7:15 a.m.
The Mainstreams extend this invitation with them as they take a walking tour of the Disney center located next to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, followed by a half hour organ concert and lunch at the cathedral. This contemporary cathedral features a large plaza, mission style colonnades, Biblically inspired gardens, and a café where you’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch.
For this event, meet at 7:15 a.m. in the church parking lot. Plan to carpool to the metro link, at East Ontario Station Round trip charge for the metro link is $7, which will be purchased from the station prior to departure. The metro departs at 8:36 a.m. in Ontario, arriving in Union Station at 9:38. The Disney tour will take between one and two hours. Please budget money for lunch.
