“The people of this wonderful city have really touched my heart and made my beautiful granddaughter light up. Our amazing firefighters and some of our wonderful Canyon Lakers show- ered her with gifts and love,” said Tony. “These guys are an amazing group of heroes. Thank you from the bottom of my torn up heart.”

Car accident proves fatal for CL resident
A head-on collision on Vacation Dr. claimed the life of 29-year-old Canyon Lake resident Gina Fiorentino and in-
jured two others last week. All three pa- tients were transported to Inland Valley Hospital by ground ambulances. Gina
was pronounced deceased at the hospi- tal.
On Thursday, December 21, at ap- proximately 6:50 a.m., deputies from the Canyon Lake and Menifee police de- partments and crews from Canyon Lake Station 60, Canyon Hills Station 94 and Rosetta Canyon Station 97 responded to the area of Vacation Dr. and Yosemite Dr. where they learned three vehicles had been involved in the collision.
The preliminary investigation re- vealed a vehicle (Cadillac driven by Gina) was driving westbound on Vaca- tion Dr. and veered into the eastbound lanes of Vacation Dr. striking an oncom- ing vehicle (Ford truck) head on. The third vehicle involved in the accident was an unoccupied parked car that was swiped.
According to Captain Jeff Roberts, it took approximately 25 minutes to ex- tricate Gina from the vehicle. The truck was occupied by a mother and her young daughter who where transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. There names have not yet been released.
