Rick Derringer is a rock and blues Grammy award-winning producer and entertainer. He’s released 14 stu- dio albums, three compilation albums and six live albums.
Rick, born Ricky Dean Zehringer in Fort Recovery, Ohio, started his musical career at an early age. He started his first band, “Rick Z Com- bo,” at the age of 15. By age 17, Rick was the lead guitarist and singer for The McCoys, who in 1965 recorded the smash hit “Hang On Sloopy.” Rick adopted his stage name at this time, inspired by the Bang Records logo which featured a Derringer pis-
tol.In 1969, Rick joined Johnny and Edgar Winter and in 1971 was fea- tured on three hit records. He was the guitar player and producer of the hit album “They only come out at night,” which featured the number one Grammy-nominated monster hits “Frankenstein” and “Free Ride.”
Throughout the 70s and 80s, Rick appeared on numerous albums and toured with Alice Cooper, Richie Ha- vens, Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand and Kiss. Rick also produced records for Weird Al Yankovic, one of which he received a Grammy for, and the World Wrestling Federation penning entrance songs for Hulk Hogan.

Gather the kids on Saturday for a morn- ing of trick-or-treating and Halloween fun in the Towne Center at the 25th
annual Parade of Frights. The Pa- rade of Frights, hosted by the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, is a free, fright-free family event that you don’t
want to miss.
This his- toric event begins with
registration at 9 a.m. in front of city hall where children
check-in for the costume contest and
pick up their treasure map. An event schedule will be handed
out at check-in.
Trick-or-Treating is from 9 to 11:15
a.m. The treasure map will lead trick- or-treaters to more than 30 participat- ing businesses, including The Friday Flyer, that will stamp the treasure map and hand out Halloween treats. Kids will wanttovisitthemall;childrencomplet- ing their treasure map will be entered into a prize drawing. Participating busi- nesses will have an orange pumpkin.
Two treasure map entries will be se- lected at random. Treasure maps must be stamped by all participating businesses and returned to the chamber’s booth no later than 11:30 a.m. in order to qualify for the drawing. Participants must be present to win.
The treasure map drawing takes place after the costume contest. The first place prize is two Six Flags Magic Mountain one day admission tickets, donated by Western Riverside Council of Govern- ments. The second place prize is four home plate/ dugout seat tickets to a 2018 Storm game, two autographed Play Ball programs, Storm hat, Storm T-shirt and promotional items, donated by Lake Elsinore Storm.
The costume contest parade begins at 11:30. Thunder, Storm Stadium’s mas- cot, will lead the costume parade in front of city hall again this year. Adults are not
eligible for prizes but are encouraged to come in costume and join in on the pa- rade.
Kids of all ages are invited to enter and compete for prizes, which takes place after the parade. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume in the fol- lowing age groups: one-year-old and younger, two-years-old to five-years- old, six-years-old to nine-years-old and 10-years-old to 13-years-old.
ABC Bounce will bring additional fun with jumpers and carnival games, DJ Mike Shroyer from Good Time En- tertainment will be rockin’ the tunes, and Anton Riniti will make an appearance with his 33-in-1 Bean Bagglz Game.
