Celebrate summer’s end at Maui Monday
Aloha! For those who loved Taco Tuesday and for those who never got a chance to attend Taco Tuesday this sum- mer, there is one more opportunity to gather as a community at Sunset Beach to enjoy the ambiance of a summer sun- set on the lake, the laughter of kids, the tastes of a Hawaiian-themed menu, the refreshment of a margarita and the ca- maraderie of neighbors.
Maui Monday is set for this coming Monday, Labor Day, from 5 to 9 p.m.
outside the Lodge.
It’s the perfect time to wear a favorite
Hawaiian shirt or dress and lei, and to celebrate the end of another amazing Canyon Lake summer. There will be live entertainment and contests provided by DJ Mike Shroyer, a kid zone, and plenty of food and snacks. Those who got a 2016 Taco Tuesday 22-ounce refillable cup are invited to bring it to receive a special drink discount.
Once the sun goes down, prepare
to be mesmerized as everyone in at- tendance will be invited to gather on the beach to watch a high-energy per- formance by the talented Polynesian Entertainment Group. The show will feature hula dancers, Samoan drum- mers and the always popular fire danc- ing performance. This is an event the whole family will enjoy.

Editor changeover in the works at The Friday Flyer
The Friday Flyer publisher Chuck Golding announced this week that a changeover is taking place at The Friday Flyer as editor Sharon Rice, at left, announces her retirement and turns the reins over to Donna Ritchie, one of the local newspaper’s most active contributors for the past two years.
The last issue Sharon will be in charge of full time is September 9. Look for more details about the changeover and these women’s contributions to the Canyon Lake community in next week’s issue.
