The Association announced last week that longtime General Manager Chris- topher Mitchell, CPA, CCAM, has re- signed his position serving the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association, ef- fective September 8, 2016, to pursue a new career opportunity.
Chris, who has worked for the Associ- ation since 2011 and has served as Gen- eral Manager for more than three years, tendered his resignation to the Board last week. He has accepted a position at one of the largest homeowners associations (HOA) and community management companies in the United States.
“Although we were sad to hear of Chris’ departure, we wish him all the very best in his new endeavor,” says POA Board President Bruce Yarbrough. “Since day one, I was impressed with Chris’ ability to recognize areas where we could enhance and advance the As- sociation’s’ finances, and our account- ing and reporting practices. He worked hard to ensure our members were kept informed and I’m proud of his achieve- ments and by how many projects he helped launch and bring to completion in our community.”
Chris says he is confident that the fiscal stability of the Association, com- bined with the Board’s strong leader- ship and the excellent Association staff, will ensure the POA will continue to thrive and serve its members far into the future.
“I am very proud of the strides the Association has made over the past five years and I have thoroughly enjoyed working in such a dynamic organiza- tion with such hardworking and creative people,” Chris says. “I am also thankful for the opportunity to have worked with Boards that have a true vision and deep dedication to serving their members.”
The Association will begin the search for Mitchell’s replacement in the com- ing weeks.
It was announced at the August Board meeting that Controller Bryan Knechtel, CPA, also had tendered his resignation.
POA Board Meeting
The next Regular Session meeting of the POA Board of Directors is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6, at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room.
Long Range Plan Survey
The Facility Review Committee re- cently conducted a series of workshops to gauge the community’s interest in fu- ture community enhancements as part of a proposed “Long Range Plan.” The pur- pose of this survey is to allow residents an opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas for amenity enhancements.
Now that the workshops have ended, a survey has been posted at www.can- yonlakepoa.com (and is available in pa- per form in the Member Services Office) asking homeowners to vote for the top five enhancements they would like to see on a Long Range Plan (one survey per tract and lot).

Main Gate Signage
Proposals are coming in to the As- sociation for new Main Gate signage. Three concepts have been proposed thus far and are posted under “Projects” at www.canyonlakepoa.com. Members are asked to email their thoughts on these concepts to projects@canyonlakepoa. com. or call 951-244-6841, ext. 210.
Boating Violators
Director Paul Queen announced at the August Board Meeting that Directors have authorized Marine Patrol to crack down on boaters who are violating boat- ing rules. There have been reports of boats going full speed through the East Bay and 5 mph areas of the Main Lake. There also have been many complaints about excessive wakes. Paul issued the warning that if anyone is caught violat- ing boating rules, they will be subject to fines of up to $500 and will be brought under review to have their boating privi- leges revoked for a year.
President Yarbrough added to that that towed inflatables are not allowed in the skiing areas of the lake, including the Jump Lagoon and the North Ski Area.
New at the Lighthouse
Mark Scheck was hired to serve as Director of Food and Beverage and be- gan working July 6. Tony Sasaki started working July 12 as Executive Chef. To- gether, Mark and Tony have more than 40 years combined experience in the busi- ness of hotel and restaurant management.
The Lighthouse has listed hours as follows:
Monday through Thursday: 5 to 9 p.m. Friday: 5 to 10 p.m.
Saturday: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Country artist Darryl Worley will perform in the next "Concerts at the Lodge" series on Saturday, October 1, at 7 p.m. Tickets are now on sale.
Sunday Brunch: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday Dinner: 3 to 8 p.m.
The Bar and Lounge will remain open for one hour after the restaurant closes; however, the kitchen will be closed so food service will not be available.
The updated dinner menu is available Monday through Sunday nights. The new menu can be seen online at www. canyonlakelighthouse.com.
The Lodge has DJs and live bands booked to play on Friday evenings.
The group, Two Guys and a Chick, is playing on alternate Fridays. This local cover band features Canyon Lake’s own Aprile DeAnne as vocalist, Steve Adler as vocalist/guitar and Jay Appleby on drums. This band is scheduled to perform today, August 26, September 9, Septem- ber 23, October 14 and October 28.
“Funk Fridays,” led by Canyon Lake’s own Koolboy will continue ev- ery first and third Friday of the month on September 2, September 16, October 7 and October 28.
Darryl Worley Concert
The Association’s “Concerts at the Lodge” series is excited to introduce its next concert starring country mu- sic artist Darryl Worley on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now for purchase at the Members Services office (credit card transactions only) during normal busi- ness hours, or by visiting www.can- yonlakepoa.com.
VIP tickets are $55 per person, which includes express entry with preferred seating closest to the stage and a private VIP bar. VIP Members will be automati- cally entered in a special VIP-only draw- ing for a chance to win an autographed poster board signed by Darryl Worley.
General Admission tickets are $30 per person. In addition to the concert, the Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar will be offering a special country-themed buffet that will replace its normal weekend din- ner menu.
POA Exercise Classes
Classes can be purchased at Member Services or the Pool Office. Instructors cannot accept payment. To learn more, visit canyonlakepoa.com.
• Water Aerobics meets Monday through Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the pool. Cost is $2 per class or $25 per month for unlimited classes.
• Canyon Lake Fit Camp meets Tues- day and Thursday at 7 a.m. at Holiday. The class is $99 per month; first class is free.
• Funk Fitness meets Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m., and Thursday eve- ning at 7:15 p.m. All classes meet at the Lodge. Class punch cards are $35 for five classes; $70 for 11 classes.
• Zumba meets Monday and Thurs- day at 6 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Cost is $35 for five classes; $40 for 10 classes.
• Evening Yoga meets Monday at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Cost is $25 for five classes; $40 for 10 classes.
• Morning Yoga meets Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge. Cost is $25 for five classes; $40 for 10.
• Line Dancing – Beginning meets Tuesday at 2 p.m.; Intermediate meets Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Cost is $20 for five classes; $40 for 10.
• Dancercise meets Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. This class is free.
