Main Gate almost ready for 4th of July crowds
Contractors have as- sured the CLPOA that the new Main Gate technology will be ready by the 4th of July. This patriotic golf cart symbol- izes the red, white and blue fervor that's about to grip Canyon Lake.

Major construction is wrapping up at the Main Gate and contractors have assured the CLPOA that the Main Gate will be complet- ed with the new RFID technology before the busy 4th of July weekend.
If the new technology works as expected, property owners with RFID transponders should be able to avoid backups at the gates that sometime result from the thousands of extra weekenders and guests arriving in town for this popular holiday.
The new configuration at the Main Gate will allow vehicles with an RFID transpon- der to enter through the right lane. The cen- ter lane should move quickly as well, as it’s for vehicles with decals, residents using their POA cards and guests with guest passes. The far left lane will be the visitor (guest) lane with a gate guard who can issue new guest passes.
Past year’s records show that more than 10,000 passes are issued over the July 4th holiday weekend, which makes Member Services and Community Patrol especially busy on this holiday. Those inviting guests into the community are encouraged to re- quest pre-printed guest passes a week in advance.
Members can get pre-printed passes by submitting a list to the Association’s Mem- ber Services office that includes tract-lot
number, date of visit, date of departure, member contact phone number and driver’s first and last name (as it appears on their li- cense).
It is important to note that during the ma- jor holidays, such as July 4th, requests for pre-printed passes need to be submitted at least one week before the holiday.
Members should remind their guests that they must have a valid driver’s license in their possession when entering the com- munity. Guests also need to know the address of the person who called them in so gate guards can verify their information more quickly.
For the 4th of July, Community Patrol will have extra staff on hand at all three gates to help move the flow of traffic through the gates as quickly as possible. There
will be three lanes open at the
Main and East Gates and the
middle lane will be available
for pre-printed guest passes.
All gates will have addi- tional staff on hand from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to walk the line and assist guests with verifying passes and entering the community. This system worked well last year with little to no backup at the gates.
