Community prepares for ‘Flashback Fiesta’
BY SHARON RICE
EDITOR, THE FRIDAY FLYER
Fiesta Day is a popular tradition that takes place at the Lodge every year on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. This year’s event will be on May 28 – the theme is “Flashback Fiesta – Cel- ebrating the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.”
This event includes a parade down Canyon Lake Dr. to the Lodge, where a food court, vendor booths and kids zone fill the grounds. Activities, enter- tainment and a ski show are scheduled throughout the day.
This year, a new activity is replac- ing the Cardboard Boat Race (which has been moved to the Mermaid Festi- val on August 27 at Indian Beach). The new activity is called "tube rolling," and involves climbing into a clear plastic container that rolls on the water and is attached to shore by cable.
Other activities at this year’s event will include a performance by Parfait Acapella Group, a mustache contest, disco dancing and a hula hoop contest. The band Hodads will be performing throughout the day.
Favorites returning this year include a magic show by Dana The Magician, dance performances, a reptile show and a rock climbing wall.
Canyon Lake residents, groups and businesses are invited to get involved in Fiesta Day by having an entry in the pa- rade, or having a food or vendor booth at the Lodge grounds. Information packets and application forms for each can be found on the POA website. (Visit www. canyonlakepoa.com, click on “Things to Do,” click on “Annual Events,” click on “Fiesta Day,” scroll to the bottom for printable forms.) The application dead- line for parade entries and booths is Fri- day, May 13.
Putting on Fiesta Day is a big and costly job. The Fiesta Day Committee has been hard at work since the begin- ning of the year and would like to remind individuals and businesses that there are advertising and sponsorship opportuni- ties. For more information about spon- sorships, contact Sponsor Coordinator Roanne Grasso at 951-244-6977 or ab- cbounceco@verizon.net.
Annual Meeting and Election

Members and Election of Directors at the Lodge on Thursday, May 12, be- tween 8 and 9 a.m.
The Association announced that some packets were sent to the homeowner’s property address rather than their mail- ing address and that ballots have been re-sent to homeowners. Personnel in the POA office are not allowed to answer questions about the election.
In addition to mailing in a ballot, property owners can vote by going to the HOA Elections office at 26043 Jef-
ferson Ave, Ste A, in Murrieta, or vote in person the day of the Election, May 12, at the Lodge. Those who didn’t receive a ballot or who have questions, may con- tact Inspector of Election Nicole Ganz Jamal at 888-589-8683.
The recent candidate forums were taped and are available for viewing at www.canyonlakepoa.com and on the PEG Channels 29/39.
