EDITOR, THE FRIDAY FLYER
General Manager Chris Mitchell went over a Powerpoint presentation at Tuesday’s POA Board meeting to ex- plain what residents can look forward to with the 60- to 90-day Main Gate con- struction project, rescheduled to begin Monday, February 8.
The general items of work to be done during this project include building new guard booths, replacing the gates, and improving the roadway, median and landscaping.
In addition, a small building will be added on the Senior Center side of Can- yon Lake Dr. South to house electrical equipment along with providing rest- rooms for staff and storage space.
Traf c and Access Control
During construction, the goal is to keep at least one entrance lane and one exit lane maintained at all times. Con- struction hours are planned to be Mon- day through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Message boards will display traffic information on both the east and west sides of Railroad Canyon Rd. to com- municate immediate traffic updates. The traffic lights on Railroad Canyon Rd. and Goetz Rd. will be on timers during peak construction hours.
• Regular traffic and school buses can go through the Main Gate but should ex- pect delays and are advised to use alter- nate gates.
• A temporary guard booth will be set up with one guard who will be able to verify residents and guests and adminis- ter guest passes, via an iPad. Temporary guest passes will still be issued to visi- tors at the Main Gate; however, they will not be printed passes.
East Gate Traf c Control
To accommodate the heavier traffic, East Gate entry lanes will be temporarily modified:
• Left Lane: Visitors
• Center Lane: Returning guests (with passes) and decals
• Right Lane: Commercial vehicles and decals
Senior Center Access
Senior Center access and parking from Canyon Lake Drive South will be limited throughout the duration of this project. The back gate will be open for access from Burning Tree Dr. during Se- nior Center hours.
Motorcycles will continue to have ac- cess to their regular motorcycle parking lot behind the construction storage site.
During construction, the goal is to keep at least one entrance lane and one exit lane maintained at all times. Regular traf c and school buses can go through the Main Gate but should expect delays and are advised to use alternate gates.
Towne Center Exiting
Except for golf carts, traffic exiting the Towne Center will not be able to use the west exit to enter the Main Gate (Canyon Lake Dr. South). The City of Canyon Lake is requiring that traffic ex- iting the Towne Center use the east traf- fic signal. From there, vehicles will be able to turn left or right. Golf carts may continue to cross Railroad Canyon Rd. at the west signal, next to Pepe’s.
Project Stages
Here are the stages in the Main Gate Project:
Stage 1
During this stage, the west lanes will be closed. One lane in and one lane out will be open on the east side. The fol- lowing work will be done:
• Demolition of existing structures;
• Site grading and foundation laid for the electrical building/restrooms;
• Electrical and irrigation lines in- stalled.
Stage 2
Major construction will take place during this stage. Entrance and exist lanes may change to accommodate the following work:
• Guard booths framed and construct- ed;
• Electrical building/restrooms framed and constructed.
Stage 3
Major construction on the east side will take place during this stage. En- trance and exit lanes likely will be on the west side.
