New Royal Court, Talent Court are crowned
The year 2015 has seen the re-Dawn- ing of the Age of Aquarius in Canyon Lake as the Miss Canyon Lake Schol- arship Pageant continued “The Sixties Flower Power” theme enjoyed at two other events earlier this year (the Wom- an’s Club Fashion Show and CLCT’s all-kids summer musical).
For the pageant, held August 29 at the Lodge, the event opened with this year’s contestants and last year’s Royal Court arriving on stage in tie-dyed clothing, chokers, boots, headbands and peace signs to sing and dance to music straight
out of the ‘60s.
Later, the young ladies had a chance
to compete in a “fun fashion” portion of the show for which they created their ideas of ‘60s-era fashion.
Pageant Director CoCo Morrison says, “The creativity was fabulous with the attire chosen; and while introduc- ing themselves, the originality of the (speeches) were outstanding, using words like ‘groovy,’ ‘peace man,’ ‘right on,’ etc.”
CoCo says the audience also enjoyed the evening gowns and talent presenta-
tions. She and Assistant Director Janelle Basham say they were “extremely pleased” with the outcome of the pag- eant and kudos from the audience.
“Comments from the judges and audience alike were nothing short of spectacular, with 100 percent support,” says CoCo. “I am so blessed and thank- ful for so many people and businesses that came up to me with congratulations on a fantastic pageant and offering their services for next year!”
Young ladies winning positions on the Canyon Lake Royal Court are Miss
Canyon Lake Kymberli Conn, Miss Teen Katelynn Macias, Jr. Miss Crystal Hauser, Young Miss Jenna Daniel, Little Miss Amy Bassett and Wee Miss Kali Tiefenthaler.
On the Talent Court are Teen Talent Jenna Daniel, Jr. Miss Talent Macken- na Keith and Young Miss Talent Portia Dodd.
These young ladies will serve as com- munity ambassadors at events such as the Parade of Frights, Parade of Lights, Christmas Tree-lightings, Easter Carnival and Fiesta Day Parade, to name a few.
