Longtime Canyon Lake resident Daryl Schwarz was honored by her class members at a breakfast at the country club for her 17 years of service instructing and participating in Canyon Lake’s Dancercise class.

“We wanted to give some recognition for her dedication and hard work,” said class member Gloria Kenzior. “She shows up every week and is an amazing woman.”

Dancercise is a free class sponsored by the POA. Classes are held on Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the lodge. The class is a combination of dance incorporated with exercise to make for a fun way to stay fit.

Daryl has graciously shared her time and talent for years. Her warm and inviting personality makes everyone in the class, even those with two left feet, feel comfortable and welcome.

Daryl is a former professional dancer with the Marion Rankin dancers and the Morro Landis dancers. She has been dancing with friend and fellow Canyon Laker Cathy Hawley since the two were 14 years old.

Daryl was recently diagnosed with coronary artery disease but said she’ll continue teaching the class as long as she can.

Daryl has been visiting Canyon Lake since 1969 and has fond memories of her time spent at Happy Camp. She made Canyon Lake her home in 1990.
