Chair Yoga has been added to the lineup of exercises offered by the POA. Classes are held on Saturdays from 8 to 9 a.m. at the senior center.

Class fees are $25 for five classes and $40 for 10 classes. Participants may attend a trial class prior to purchasing a punch card. Punch cards are available at the POA office; the instructor cannot accept payment.

The class is taught by Canyon Lake resident Linda Brito, who has 200 training hours with Yoga Alliance and holds Restorative and Chair Yoga certifications. She has more than 200 hours of training and currently teaches yoga to seniors in skilled nursing facilities.

“I am excited to bring accessible yoga to the residents of Canyon Lake,” said Linda.

Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced while sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. With the assistance of a chair, adults can practice yoga with the added benefits of increased circulation, balance, flexibility, mobility and strength.
