CL Women’s Golf Travel Club wraps up 2018

The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Travel Club finished another year with San Bernardino and Riverside Women’s Golf Association. Canyon Lake won A Division with 432 points against Seven Hills Golf Club with 274 points and Moreno Valley Ranch Golf Club with 218 points.

The planned Christmas Tournament at Paradise Knolls was rained out, so the women did not play but continued on with lunch, awards and installation of officers.

Six women won in their division for the most points earned all year. Anita Fairfield, Darlene Cortez and Mary Burns tied for first place with 36 points. Kathy Voss placed second with 30 points and Donna Nunes and Lorrie Sjomeling tied for third place.

Three members of the club were installed for the 2019 board. Ura Furry will serve as president for the second consecutive year, Darlene Cortez will serve another year as vice president and Linda Helmer will serve as secretary. Joanna Spiller will serve as the president’s parliamentarian and Darlene Cortez will serve as the club’s new representative.

“You can join San Bernardino and Riverside Women’s Golf Association anytime during the year as long as you have a handicap of 40.4. It’s only $15 to join and you can play nine different golf courses,” said Ura. “I look forward to another great year of golf with all of you who have signed up. Remember we are meeting new ladies and playing in competition but also having fun. Thanks for a great 2018.”
