Letter: Parade of Lights

Editor, The Friday Flyer

The Yacht Club would like to thank everyone who participated in the Parade of Lights. There is a lot of time and effort spent by the participants decorating their boats. This being my first year in a boat, it was fantastic to see all the parties and how much the community appreciates the effort put into this event.

I would also like to thank everyone in the Yacht Club who volunteered their time at an extremely busy time of the year. Special thanks to Co-Chairperson Jim Lange and committee members, Shawna Bowen, Steven Prince, Bob Templeton and Cindy Cameron. They all went above and beyond to make this event a success.

Thank you, former winners Greg Cassidy, Robert Mora, Lainie Cooney and Ted and Nancy Horton for the great tips provided at the Parade of Lights workshop. They provided the workshop attendees with excellent knowledge on the types of materials to use. Many of their ideas were used in the “Tips of the Day.” I used most of the materials they recommended to decorate my boat.

This is a community event and the Yacht Club would appreciate the community’s input on how to make this a better event in the years to come. Please email ideas to me at ddain297@gmail.com. The best help for the Yacht Club would be boat participants.

Lastly, we would like to thank all the businesses and clubs that donated to make this event a success. Canyon Lake POA, Eye Adore, Canyon Cowboy, Kristine Gonzales and Margaret McCoy Coldwell Banker, Canyon Lake Travel, Canyon Lake Optometry, Arbor Hospice, Caregiver Provider, and Shawna Bowen and Larry Marr. Also the following Canyon Lake clubs: Triathlon and Fitness, Jr. Women’s, Women’s, Car, Travel, Lioness and Ski. Thank you so much for making this an event to remember.
