New programs are coming to CL Library in January

Knitting will return to the Canyon Lake Library in January. The Knitting and Crochet program is a craft program for adults who want to learn or enjoy sharing their knowledge.

The class is designed to be a learning experience with a leader to show beginners how to get started in knitting and crochet. There is ample expertise for those who know some techniques and want to explore more advanced patterns.

This is also a social program for those who just enjoy knitting and crocheting with others.

The program is free but participants must provide their own tools and materials. First-time visitors may come and use available tools and discuss what might be needed for their first project.

The program will meet on the first and third Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. throughout 2019.

Technology for Seniors is just in time for that new holiday gift. The four-week program will cover beginner level introductions to iPads and iPhones on Jan. 12,  Android tablets and phones on Jan. 19 and Windows 10 on January 26. Feb. 2, topics will be internet safety, email scams and telephone scams.

Sessions are held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. For a complete learning experience, participants are encouraged to bring their own device or one to use during the session.

December’s programs include Miss Ginny’s Story Time on Dec. 14 at 11:30 a.m. This free program for ages three to five includes stories, movement, music and a craft. Parents and caregivers attend with the children and are encouraged to participate within the program.

Play Day is moving this month to Dec. 17. The program starts at 10 a.m. with crafts and social time. The popular Movin’ N Music program will be held later in the program for December only.

The song and movement activities which usually start the program will close the program starting at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 12 p.m.

Toddler Story Time will meet for stories and crafts as part of Play Day on Dec. 17 at 11 a.m.

The Adult Book Club will meet on Dec. 17 and include the movie “Christmas with the Kranks,” a pot-luck and a bookmark exchange.

The Junior Book Club will meet on Dec. 19 and include a treat and voluntary $5 gift exchange.

The holiday closures for the Riverside County Library System libraries are Dec. 24, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1.
