After Lunch Bunch

Another storm rolled through Canyon Lake in the middle of last week but fortunately for the ALB, the skies cleared enough to allow them to play their regular Friday game. The course was very wet and the Greens Superintendent declared that all golf carts stay on the cart paths.  Policy for the ALB is that when it’s “Cart Paths Only,” the game is shortened to thirteen holes. The format for this day was Partners Best Ball and players were allowed to pick their own partners. The results are as follows:

A Flight: 1st place:  Bob Tallaksen and Nick Valencia, 41; 2nd place: Oscar Rowland and Carlos Ramirez, 46.

B Flight: 1st place: Ross Hanover and Fred Espinosa. 47: 2nd place: Joe Washle and Joe Henderson, 47.

The winners of the Skins game are Oscar Rowland on holes 1 and 12, Carlos Ramirez on hole 4, Ray Freyre on hole 5, Mike Connor on hole 6, Bob Tallaksen on hole 9 and Joe Washle on hole 10.

The Closest to the Pin winners are Ed Doidge on hole 8 and Nick Valencia on hole 11.

Next Friday the group will be playing Two Best Balls of the Foursome with the committee picking the teams.

Now in its 39th year, the ALB offers a friendly game of golf every Friday throughout the year and an annual tournament in November. Entries are open to male golfers with an established handicap.

The entry fee is $5 with an optional Skins competition for $5. Winter tee time is 10 a.m. Signups are taken between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club or by phone at 951-249-4565 or 951-237-6102.
