POA kicks off holiday season with Tree Lighting

With the help of the Jr. Women’s Club, the Canyon Lake POA kicked off the holiday season with a Tree Lighting Festival on Saturday at the lodge. Fire Station 60 escorted Santa to the lodge at 5:30 p.m. where he was greeted by hundreds of children who were eagerly awaiting his arrival.

The family-friendly event kicked off with performances by JDI dancers, resident Makayla Phillips, who won the “Golden Buzzer” on the television show America’s Got Talent, and Kodi Lee, a prodigious savant who possesses extraordinary musical abilities.

Free activities included photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, carnival rides, holiday-themed crafts, falling “snow,” bounce houses, photo booth and face painting. DJ Mike Shroyer emceed the event and provided the holiday music throughout the evening. The Jr. Women’s Club collect unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. Those who donated a toy received a raffle ticket.
