Triathlon Club hosts first Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club hosted its first community Thanksgiving Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Eighty runners and walkers met at Gault Field, adding fitness to a day known for family, food and fun.

The route followed Longhorn Drive to the campground and back, a distance of 3.1 miles. Costumes were encouraged; several people dressed for the occasion in turkey hats, tutus and colored mohawks. The first place female and male finishers were awarded pumpkin pies.

“This was such a fun event,” said club President Wendy Gallagher. “It was great to ‘run into’ neighbors and friends and to see so many families enjoying fitness together. We hope it can become an annual event.”

The club invites the community to participate in its next event, the Polar Swim on Jan. 1 at Sunset Beach.

The Triathlon and Fitness Club is currently accepting membership applications for its 2019 season. For more information, contact Jim Yanoschik at 951-265-7195 or visit the club’s website at canyonlaketriathlonclub.com.
