Men’s Golf hosts Member-Member Tournament

Nearly 100 players participated in the Men’s Golf Club Member-Member Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 18. The two-day event started at the check-in table where every golfer received a customized belt buckle and a leather belt in their choice of colors. After check-in, players enjoyed a hosted buffet breakfast followed by a game of Partners Best Ball with players using only four clubs.

The second day was a 6-6-6 game with six holes as Alternate Shot, six holes as Scramble and six holes as Aggregate.

The winners are as follows:

A Flight: 1st place: Alan Horst and Dave Shankland; 2nd place: Bob Jacobson and Koby Mora; 3rd place: Chris Wilkeson and Bryon Connick; 4th place: Steve McCain and Phil Lerch.

B Flight: 1st place: Jason Jernigan and Dave Derse; 2nd place: Rick Halsey and John Reed; 3rd place: Don Raworth and Ted Smykla; 4th place: Bobby Gunter and Jesse Beecher.

C Flight: 1st place: John Stubs and Don Potenza; 2nd place: Oscar Rowland and Tom Fuhrman; 3rd place: Bill Levis and Dave Carlson; 4th place: Hugh Wagoner and Clive Taylor.

D Flight: 1st place: Chris Poland and Gary McKee; 2nd place: Ross Hanover and Jon Evans; 3rd place: Marv Tweedy and Jim Musser; 4th place: Joe Washle and Dudley Thompson.

The tournament ended with a chicken kebab lunch and awards. The Men’s Club would like to thank the staff at both the Golf Pro Shop and the restaurant for their support.

The Men’s Golf Club’s second annual Rules Seminar will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Learn more about the USGA’s sweeping changes in the Rules of Golf that will take effect on Jan. 1, 2019. Seating is limited. Signups are taken at the Golf Pro Shop.

Members of the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club meet for play every Wednesday morning. Signups are taken between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. In addition to Wednesday games, the club sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year. Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association.

Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older and any member of the public who purchases an outside annual golf membership are eligible to join the club.
