Library focuses on thanks, gratitude in November

Thanks and gratitude are the Canyon Lake Library’s focus for the upcoming holiday. The library’s craft program, Make a Gratitude Art Project, is a family program that involves making a keepsake with each person’s own word of gratitude. The program will be held on Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. This is a free event; the materials are supplied through the Friends of the Canyon Lake Library.

Miss Ginny’s Story Time will celebrating Thanksgiving today, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m. The program is developed for ages three to five and includes movement, live music, a make and take craft and stories. Parents may attend with their children in addition to older and younger children as long as they do not disrupt the program. The every other Friday program will meet again on Friday Nov. 30, to celebrate National Cookie Day.

Toddler Story Time meets on Mondays at 11 a.m. The program is for children ages three and younger.

Play Day will be held on Monday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. The program features music, a make and take home craft, play time and stories.

Book Clubs are available for adults and children in 4th through 7th grades. Each club selects one book to read then meets at the end of the month to discuss topics from the reading. The Junior Book Club adds an extra craft or activity component related to the story. The library has copies of the monthly titles for new and current members to read during the month.

The Adult Book Club meets Nov. 26 at 4 p.m. The Junior Book Club will meet on Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. to discuss the book “Stick Dog” by Tom Watson.

Tutoring help is at the library on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend. This program allows high school students to earn volunteer credit for helping others. Children needing help should bring any tools needed to explain what they need help with and any tools which may be required.

The Canyon Lake Library will be closed the Friday after Thanksgiving. It will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The book drops will be available for item returns and the web and digital services at rivlib.net will be available.
