CL Yacht Club seeking boats for boat parade

The Canyon Lake Yacht Club invites residents to enter their boats in this year’s annual Parade of Lights boat parade on Dec. 8. Residents, clubs, groups and businesses are encouraged to decorate a boat with lights and join in on the fun. Cash prizes are up for grabs.

The parade lineup starts at 4:30 p.m. at the East Port launch ramp. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. This much-anticipated community event takes place on the waterways through the East Bay and main lake, ending at Holiday Harbor Park where awards will be presented and Santa will make an appearance.

Prizes will be awarded for the best boat in each category. All boats will be recognized with a Dash Plate Award commemorating participation in the 2018 Parade of Lights.

First timers, those who have not participated in the parade for the past three years, are eligible for trophies in two new categories: First Timers and Yacht Club.

Cash prizes also will be awarded in the following categories: Commodore’s Award, Best Pontoon, Best Ski Boat and Club/Civic. First, second and third place prizes will be award in the Best Pontoon, Best Ski Boat and Club/Civic categories.

The Yacht Club is requesting that participants turn in their entry forms as soon as possible so the club has a general idea of how many boats will be participating. Entry forms are available in The Friday Flyer paper and at the POA, lodge and country club, or by emailing Commodore Dave Dain at ddain297@gmail.com.
